THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

I worked with Elvia Castenada, a records clerk with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. She is a kind-hearted, loving, compassionate, and hard working lady filled with the Grace of God. The following is the poem she wrote along with her beginning note on the 23rd Psalm.

“A love song for my King, written by me. Elvia Castenada. I love you my Lord with all my heart.”

The Lord is my Shepherd
And I will receive,
The richest of blessings,
If I but believe.

The greenest of meadows,
He placed for a bed,
A curtain of stars,
As I lay down my head.

Though rough are the waters,
My soul will not fear.
The storm will be silenced,
For my Lord, He is near.

And though I go tired,
He helps me grow strong.
He shows me the path,
As he leads me along.

The roads that I travel,
May send an alarm,
But I will not worry,
For He shields me from harm.

His rod will protect me;
A feast for a king,
My enemies gaze,
As a banquet He’ll bring.

He fills me with honor;
See my cup overflow.
His love and his goodness,
Will go where I go.

A home he has promised,
Built by His own hand.
A glorious mansion,
In a heavenly land.

I’ll live in His Kingdom;
I will not be bored,
For my journey will lead me,
To the house of the Lord.
